Cass and her outreach team spend their days educating Vermonters about waste: how to generate less of it, and what to do with it once you have it. Central Vermont Solid Waste Management District leads workshops for the public, operates the Additional Recyclables Collection Center for hard-to-recycle-items, loans out waste stations for events, and offers support for home and community composters, among other waste-reduction strategies.
I’ve collaborated with CVSWMD on both in-house and grant-funded projects. Some of my favorites have been advertisements on reducing holiday waste; signage for events; booklets on composting, safe cleaning supplies, and zero waste events; and a magnetic, tabbed reference guide for your fridge on dealing with different types of waste.
